About ABEEK
ABEEK is the English abbreviation of Accreditation Board for
Engineering Education of Korea. ABEEK presents the policy, guidelines and
standards for the college engineering.
Foundation of ABEEK
In this 21st century society, which is being led by knowledge and
technology, establishing a solid foundation for engineering education is
essential. On this ground, ABEEK is founded in August 30, 1999 within
engineering community for impartial evaluation and accreditation of engineering
education.
Goal of ABEEK
ABEEK presents the standards and guidelines for the college engineering
or related education programs upon which accreditation and consultation is
provided. By doing so, ABEEK will promote advancement in engineering education;
cultivate engineering technology manpower with ability to compete globally; and
ultimately, present them to the industry, contributing to the national
development.
Substance of the program contents is evaluated rather than the educational
systems or facilities shown on the surface.
In addition, Evaluation Criteria defines the seven criteria of which the
applying education program should satisfy; students, Curricular Objectives,
Achievements from and evaluation of the program, Curricular Contents, Faculty,
Facility and Funding, and Program Accreditation Standards.
Engineering Education Accreditation
Engineering education accreditation guarantees that the graduates from
an accredited program are prepared for practical engineering business; inspires
new and innovative approaches in engineering education; announces accredited
programs to the public.
Accelerating the development in engineering education through these steps leads
naturally to promote productivity and competitive edge.
